Cleanliness and Hygiene Protocols
Inside every Right Steps® classroom, hygiene practices follow guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and reflect the needs of growing children from infancy to preschool age and even kindergarten. Each caregiver and student practices regular hand washing, especially after restroom breaks, before meals, and after outdoor play.
Classroom toys, furniture, and learning materials are cleaned throughout the day using child-safe disinfectants chosen to support both skin comfort and overall health. After every diaper change, tables and surrounding surfaces are thoroughly sanitized to keep the environment safe for infants and toddlers. High-contact areas such as sinks, classroom tools, and door handles are also cleaned repeatedly to help prevent the spread of illness. Rest assured, all cleaning products are stored in locked, clearly labeled cabinets positioned away from areas children can access.
Emergency Preparedness
Preparedness gives families confidence and children security. Our emergency response plans address various scenarios through calm, organized procedures that protect every child in our care. Monthly fire drills are conducted with age-appropriate instruction, helping children develop confidence and knowledge about safety procedures without creating fear or anxiety. Natural disaster protocols are practiced regularly with all staff members, and first aid kits are stocked and inspected monthly in every classroom.
Our team maintains current pediatric first aid and CPR certification and keeps up-to-date emergency contact information readily accessible at all times. Clear evacuation routes are also posted throughout each facility and practiced consistently.
Allergy and Dietary Safety
Food safety and allergy awareness stay at the center of our meal planning. All snacks and meals account for dietary restrictions, food allergies, and personal nutrition needs. We store food properly, prepare it with care, and track each ingredient that enters the kitchen or snack area.
Plus, each child’s allergy information remains visible to staff at all times. Our teachers also monitor for signs of allergic reaction and choking while feeding or supervising mealtime.
Facility Access and Visitor Screening
Security starts before anyone walks through the door. Each Right Steps® location uses Procare software to monitor who enters the building. Only authorized individuals may gain entry during the day, and all visitors must check in with valid identification.
Classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, and entryways are also equipped with video cameras. The footage is reviewed regularly to support child protection, incident response, and classroom oversight.
Playground and Classroom Safety
Children learn best when they feel confident and free to explore. That’s why we maintain safe playground equipment, clear walking paths, and child-sized classroom furniture. Teachers supervise both indoor and outdoor play with attention and presence. No matter if a child is building with blocks or running across the playground, we protect their movements while encouraging independence.
Staff Qualifications and Ongoing Training
Caregivers play a vital role in preschool health and safety. Every Right Steps® staff member completes a background check, holds first aid certification, and receives training as a mandated reporter. Our team continues their education through regular professional development sessions covering topics like mental health, safety regulations, child nutrition, SIDS awareness, and emergency response.
Each teacher is trained to manage risk, recognize injury, and support a wide range of learning needs. This foundation allows us to offer safe, nurturing care with the knowledge and heart that children deserve.
Licensing and Compliance
Right Steps® Education meets or exceeds all state and local licensing requirements. Every location is reviewed during regular inspection visits to confirm compliance with health, safety, and staffing standards. These regulations guide our policies and reflect our accountability, clarity, and ongoing commitment to students’ well-being.
Parent Communication and Transparency
We believe in providing clear information that keeps you informed and confident. That’s why we share daily reports about your child’s activities, meals, sleep patterns, and social interactions. Incident reports are also provided immediately for any injury or concern, no matter how minor.
When new policies are introduced or safety plans are adjusted, we communicate promptly and openly. You have a right to know how your child’s day is going and how we support their care every step of the way.
